I'm reading Andrew Marr,s ' A short book about drawing'. I resisted buying it for some time now, I don't really know why, probably because it is just that,a short book, and it cost £15 quid, but I'm glad I've got it now.Why because it's not really about drawing at all. Yes, the underlying theme is about drawing ,but it's really about an addiction.

Marr isn't a great artist he doesn't claim to be.He is an accomplished amateur who like most of us who draw and paint has a burning need to put pencil or paint to paper. He, like a lot of us need our graphite fix.He doesn't attempt to teach us how to draw, but attempts to explain why some of us need to. It's not about what is art or what is good art more about WHY?.

My personal feeling about art are very much like Marr,s in that it's about our need to do,to create,to make and then to look and admire and criticise and in doing so to experience the emotions that our,s or someones art creates in us. Whether its a painter, photographer, sculptor or flower arranger, what we really experience is an emotion. It makes us look and think in a world where looking and thinking for ourselves is becoming redundant.

Just look at the headline in the Mail the other day.If we believed it we would all catch Ebola tomorrow, and by the end of the week be dead. If we look beyond the headlines at the facts we would realise that unless we have an almost intimate contact with an infected person then our chances of contracting it are minimal.......... even less if we live in Lincolnshire.

Well, art is a bit like that to me look behind the headlines and make up your own mind.

So that's what this Blogs about.
